Find out about children's book events taking place this September.


September is World Kit Lit Month, all about celebrating translated fiction for children. Why not pick up a book from a different country this month? We've got a list of some fantastic translated books - both classics and newer releases - that will give you a bit of inspiration if you don't know where to start.

8 September: Today is UNESCO's International Literacy Day.

10-14 September: Chiswick Book Festival often has a great programme for young readers - keep an eye on their website to find out what's coming up this year.

13 September: Hoorah, it's Roald Dahl Day! We'll be celebrating with a massive chocolate cake in tribute to Bruce Bogtrotter.

16-20 September: Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival returns - there are always plenty of treats to enjoy in this little Devon town... 

18-26 September: Appledore Book Festival will be back on these dates.

25 September-4 October: Bath Children's Literature Festival is back- we can't wait to see what's planned for little bookworms this year.

26 September-4 October: Henley Literary Festival will take place across these dates and there are sure to be lots of exciting events to explore.

30 September: Happy International Translation Day! Why not celebrate by reading some translated fiction?

Also in September: The winner of the Klaus Flugge Prize will be announced - which book will follow in the footsteps of Julian is a Mermaid? You can also look forward to the Chiswick Book Festival this month.
