Wonder
Publisher: Penguin Random House Children's
Like most ten-year olds, August ('Auggie') Pullman just wants to be accepted at his new school, especially as he's been previously been home-schooled. However, Auggie can't help but stand out - he was born with a severe facial deformity. Most people react with horror to his appearance and don't take the time to meet the smart, funny, Star Wars-loving boy underneath.
Written in the first person, Wonder follows Auggie as he experiences more than the usual ups-and-downs of friendships, family and school. The story is also told from the perspective of other characters, providing glimpses into their own behaviour and exploring the impact our actions can have on others.
Thought-provoking, engaging and uplifting, this is a wonderful read with a powerful message - we can all choose to be kind.

I loved this book because of the way that it was written intrigued me and also the message that comes across hits home - it is about a boy who gets bullied because he was born with a face defect and looks different for his peers. Great for 8+ as it teaches a hidden message in the book

This thought provoking book put me through all kinds of feelings and emotions. With it's hidden moral and uplifting storyline it truly is a bestseller. August Pullman a young boy around the age of ten is just starting his new elementary school Beecher Prep. however, this is going to be quite a challenge due to his deformities. #ChooseKind

This book is different. About a 10 year old boy with a dis- formed face, with his eyes on cheeks, no ears and constantly getting stared at. One of my favorite books, and if you haven't read it, do read it!!

I thought this book was a brilliant book. I liked the way R.J. Palacio put it in different peoples point of views. My favourite character was Via (Olivia) who is August's big sister. She is my favourite because she is sensible and protects her poor brother.
