William Wenton and The Luridium Thief
Publisher: Walker
William is a 12-year-old boy living under mysterious circumstances, hiding out in Norway with his strangely enigmatic parents who don't seem to be giving him anything like the full story. All William knows is that his grandfather disappeared eight years before in Victoria Station in London, just after an awful car accident that resulted in William nearly getting killed and his dad being paralysed. Now William finds himself intensely obsessed by solving codes - but for some reason, that's something his parents actively try to discourage.
This is a fast-paced, highly imaginative debut that is the start of a new series. It's a real page-turner with very short chapters. In Norway, author Bobbie Peers is an award-winning film director and scriptwriter. The book won the Norwegian Ark Children's Award and Children's Book Award and has already been translated into 30 different languages - definitely a new series to watch.
