Where on Earth is My Bagel?

Publisher: Lee & Low

An American-sourced picturebook which unites the cultures of urban New York with rural Korea. Little Yum Yung yearns for a proper New York bagel and searches through his own community of farmers, fishermen and beekeepers to try to find one. Although they helpfully point out other familiar circular shapes around them, no-one knows where he can find a bagel, so Yum sends a note to New York via pigeon-post. When the pigeon returns with the recipe Yum realises that he can find all the ingredients locally to bake a real bagel.

Bright, lively, informative, and authentically Korean-style illustrations, and repetition of phrases will engage young readers. It's a pity that the recipe isn't included for them to try cooking some.
