The Secret Garden
Publisher: HarperPress
When the spoilt and bad-tempered Mary is orphaned at the age of ten, she is sent from India to live with her hunchback uncle on the Yorkshire Moors. At first, she is utterly miserable, but gradually the frienship of her maid and the discovery of a secret garden in the grounds of the house begin to change her.
Then she finds another secret in the house - Colin, her sickly cousin, who is as self-centred and disagreeable as herself. This classic novel is a satisfying and absorbing read, and demonstrates the resilience of children even when they are surrounded by uncaring and flawed adults.

I loved this book so much as it's such a good classic, I read this when I was about six but I keep on reading it as it's so good. Secret Garden is so unpredictable and the characters are loved by all.

I thought it was a great book it was very imaginative. My favourite character was Mary Lennox because she started off grumpy but after some fresh English air she came out a beautiful and friendly little girl.

Mary is a conceited and arrogant girl from a rich family and when her parents die due to cholera Mary is sent live with her uncle in a mysterious house.
The book is quite breath taking. Suitable for all children above 9 years.

A lovely tale explaining how people, their personalities and their feelings for others can change
