The Lion Who Lost his Roar, but Learnt to Draw

Publisher: QED

One of a growing series of books aimed at Early Years readers, which feature bright illustration, high-frequency words, patterned language and rhyme to help the development of reading. As an appendix there are ideas for extension activities to help carers.

Lionel the lion cub, like many of the book's readers, loves to make a lot of noise. This frightens other animals who might otherwise be his friends, and frustrates his parents. They suggest drawing instead of roaring, but Lionel thinks that's boring. When he gets a sore throat and loses his voice, however, he discovers that he can get fun and friends from drawing.

This humorous story encourages socialisation in a subtle, engaging text filled with colourful and active illustrations.
