The Fury

Publisher: Faber Children's Books

Cal, Brick and Daisy are three very different teenagers, living very different lives, but one horrific day they are thrown together in unimaginable circumstances. All three suddenly find themselves the focus of vicious attacks and incomprehensible hatred from anyone who comes near them, including family, neighbours and friends. Forced to flee for their lives from the hordes intent on killing them they find solace in an abandoned theme-park where they try to figure out what is happening to them. As others like them begin to arrive they must fight for survival in a world gone mad.

This heart-stopping, rollercoaster of a book is so exciting and fast paced that readers will not want to put it down. Each chapter is written from a different character's point of view and Alexander Gordon Smith expertly switches the narrative from adult to child, young girl to surly adolescent boy, keeping the reader gripped with every change.

Be warned: with its frequent scenes of violence and death, this book is not for the faint hearted but those brave enough to make it to the end will be chomping at the bit to get their hands on the next installment.
