The Fork, The Witch, and The Worm: Tales from Alagaësia

Publisher: Puffin

Eragon the Dragon Rider has left Alagaësia to build a home for the new generation of Riders on the mythical Mount Arngor, known to some as Mountain of Night, but to others as Hope.

However, life overseeing the building of a huge mountaintop centre for Dragon Riders means that Eragon finds himself more of a building project manager than a mythical hero. Yet, other stories are happening in the world: Essie Siglingsdaughter meets a mysterious and powerful stranger in her father’s tavern; Vermund the Grin, a great and terrible dragon, threatens the Clan Skgaro. Angela the Herbalist visits Mount Arngor and tells the story of Elva, a powerful child, to whom she is teaching control of her power.

This volume comprises three new short stories set in the fictional world of Alagaësia, the setting for the Eragon books: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance. There is a guide to names and languages in the stories, a pronunciation guide and the first chapter of Eragon at the back of the book, for those who are unfamiliar with the Eragon series.

Existing fans will adore the extra world- and character-building that The Fork, The Witch, and the Worm lends, but new readers are probably best starting with the first book.
