Review

Vladimir the squirrel is upset and angry – someone has stolen his nuts.

Fortunately, he can take his problem to Chief Detective Gordon, a policeman and toad feared by all the criminals in the forest.

Detective Gordon toils through the snowy forest to stake out the squirrel’s store. He stays there until he is frozen solid. The only criminal he sees is a baby mouse, taking just one nut because she is so hungry.

The mouse rescues Detective Gordon and she becomes his young, able assistant and friend. Together they can share cakes, use the big police station stamp and solve crimes.

A warm, delightful story, charming and perceptive, with appealing whimsical illustrations.
