Rebekah lives among the remote island community of New Canaan led by its charismatic but commanding leader, Mr Bevins. She has never thought to question her beliefs or way of life until Alex arrives. Alex is a lost soul from the world outside and desperately wants to escape this harsh and sinister place, as she sees it. The girls form an unlikely bond as Rebekah realises she too wants to break free, rather than give herself up to God as the day of the Rapture looms closer…

This is a gripping and unsettling story with some disturbing characters and a menacing atmosphere which pervades throughout. A dark but compelling read.
