The Boy with the Tiger's Heart

Nona's guardian kills himself, but she becomes a murder suspect. Rescued from wild dogs as a small child, she has been raised with wild animals by a man who experimented with them.

Fleeing from the law with her only friend, a bear, she meets one boy who seems half wild animal and another who is escaping from his abusive parents. Together they leave the city, pursued by the police, and decide to seek 'The Edge'. This is a strange, seemingly magical, barrier that separates the city from a place where nature is still wild and free.

Written, unusually, in the present tense, this dystopian fable expresses an idea about the way the relationship between nature and society could develop.
