The Best Singer in the World

Publisher: Gecko Press

Eva Eriksson is an Astrid Lindgren award winner, and her illustrations for Ulf Nilsson’s text are fully representative of her typically soft-focus, quirky style, with warm interpretations of familiar settings, each rich in humour.

The young narrator tells us of his love of singing, and of his little brother, with whom he plays a singing game. However when he is picked to announce the end of the school show, and to stand alone on stage in front of the audience, he is terrified, haunted by nightmares, and physically unable to perform, until his brother gives him the courage.

This is an immensely reassuring tale for small readers, with a delightfully rude rhyme which they will undoubtedly immediately learn and repeat!
