She is Not Invisible
Publisher: Orion Books
Laureth's father is a writer. He’s in Austria researching his latest book when she receives a mysterious email informing her that his notebook has been found in New York. Laureth decides to travel to New York to investigate.
This would be ambitious for any 16 year old, but in Laureth’s case she has not even told her mum about her plan. Plus Laureth is blind, and must also take her little brother on the trip. Together they cross the Atlantic, determined to find him and to uncover the truth.
Despite telling a story about a blind girl, and subtly telling the reader a huge amount about experiencing the world without sight, this is not a book about being blind. It is rather an action-packed adventure story, with some unusual twists and a fascinating comment on the theme of "coincidence".
