Review

Dustwalk is Amani's home. The desert sand is in her bones. But she wants to escape. Yet the desert plains are full of danger, and the Sultan's enemies are on the rise.

Rebel of the Sands is an original and thrilling fantasy novel full of adventure, myth and magic. Amani is a fantastic heroine: brave and bold with a whip-smart wit. The supporting cast of characters are just as wonderful and memorable, each one with their own interesting backstory.

It is a joy to immerse yourself in the fully developed world that Hamilton creates - a blend of the Wild West and Arabian Nights, with her own creative touches. The original mythology and legends are fascinating, and the politics of Amani's world are both familiar and foreign.

The reader will feel like they are right next to Amani as she races across the desert to find her destiny.
