Rapunzel

Publisher: Andersen Press

A cruel witch exacts a harsh punishment for the theft of some salad leaves - her neighbours' first child. Locked in a tower, Rapunzel's golden plaits are her only ladder. Discovering Rapunzel's love for a passing prince, the witch severs her plaits, abandons her in the forest and traps the prince. Falling from the tower, he is tragically blinded. Years later, the wandering prince hears Rapunzel singing to her twin children. Her tears miraculously restore his sight and the family is reunited.

Dazzling illustrations resembling jewel-encrusted tapestries accompany this retelling of the classic fairytale. Younger children can follow the story through the pictures alone while more confident readers will appreciate the dramatic tale in addition to the sumptuously detailed illustrations.
