Elsie must spend several months in a leg-brace, confined to bed, in a specialist children’s hospital. But at the hospital, she finds solace through new friendships with those around her - including Queenie, the hospital's majestic white cat - and finds inventive ways to entertain the other children on the ward.

Lovely book can some one type out the story for everyone to see as none of us should all have to pay

This book is really good. But there are some sad bits like her granny getting TB. I recommend this for children 9 and over. I would rate it 4 stars, it hasn't reached 5 stars yet.

I can't believe how amazing this brill book is. I 100 percent hate the horrid mother, how unfair and mean she is to her own daughter. The Nan is so lovely and loving to Elsie, I loved her. It was clever how Wilson put Elsie as an old lady at the end. LOVE THIS BOOK.

Queenie is soooo good!!! Elsie is ill and is whisked away to Miltree Hospital. Elsie hopes that she and Nan will be better in time for the Queen's coronation. This story was set in 1953. That's when Jacqueline Wilson was nearly 8.
