Sixteen-year-old Travis died from leukaemia five years ago. But he's alive again (and still sixteen) as the result of pioneering transplant surgery to attach his cryogenically saved head to another body. However his friends are now five years older, and his girlfriend is engaged. Travis has to come to terms with the changes to his body, his family, his friends and his relationships.

Although the novel is science fiction teenage readers can entirely relate to Travis' emotions and reactions, as they relate to universal life changes. There are difficult questions to be faced, and some powerfully emotive situations, but also many richly comic scenes. Travis manages to tell his own story powerfully, and Whaley perfectly catches both teenage angst and anger.
