No More Peas

Publisher: Oxford University Press

Each evening at dinner time, Oliver dreams of all the scrumptious dishes and delectable desserts he might get to eat. But instead of pizza and chips with pancakes and ice cream, Daddy serves him vegetables – yuk! Oliver swiftly shares the unwanted veg with his pet dog Barney who is only too happy to oblige.

Daddy needs a plan to tackle this fussy eater; he takes Oliver to his vegetable garden. From red radishes to blue corn, Oliver and Daddy, spend the day sowing seeds and discovering the rainbow of vegetables that can be grown. That evening, Oliver helps Daddy prepare the vegetables they picked for dinner. Together, they peel slice, roast and boil an array of fresh, colourful veg. Daddy encourages Oliver to try some new vegetables but yuk, the squash is too squashy and the peppers are too peppery! Then Daddy suggests trying just one small pea. Will Oliver give peas a chance?

It can be tough getting fussy eaters to try new food, especially veg. In this laugh-out-loud story, Oliver has absolutely no intention of eating vegetables, something many parents and grownups have come across.

The book introduces a wide variety of vegetables throughout and includes additional backmatter with information about the importance of eating five-a-day as part of a healthy balanced diet.
