My Little Book of Big Freedoms

The Human Rights Act in Pictures

Publisher: Amnesty International UK

In collaboration with Amnesty International, Children's Laureate Chris Riddell has sketched 16 simple but beautiful illustrations of the freedoms that form part of the Human Rights Act.

These include safety, fairness, family, knowledge, hope and mercy.

Animals feature heavily in Riddell's illustrations: Pegasus the winged stallion, representing protection, wraps his wings around a small child; a lion fiercely guards freedom; and a penguin watches over a couple getting married, symbolising love.

It would be hard to find anybody, young or old, not enchanted by this pocket-sized book.
