Illuminature

Publisher: Wide Eyed

Ten of the world's most fascinating and unusual natural habitats are explored here, from The Simpson Desert in Australia to the Weddell and Ross Seas in Antartica. Each section features two large double page spreads the reader must look at through each of three different toned plastic filters, supplied at the front of the book, to see the daytime animals, night-time and twilight animals found in each habitat. The colourful sections are followed by a black and white section detailing brief information about the animals featured.

This is a novel approach to illustrated nonfiction, combining beautiful design and great nature information with the fun and interactive colour filter. This not only demonstrates the way we can look at the same habitat with different eyes to see its combined elements but makes learning about nature extra exciting.
