Gill Lewis has won awards with her previous novels about endangered animals and environments and their conservation. Here, she turns to the exploitation of both the land and of animals in developing countries such as Congo.
She tells the story of Imara, taken as a small child from her village when rebels raid it, and brainwashed into thinking that she has magical powers. A parallel theme relates Bobo's experience, determined to discover the truth when his father, a National Park ranger, vanishes during a rebel raid to collect young gorillas for sale.
Lewis writes empathetically about the gorilla colony and the lives of the villagers: both prey to avaricious, corrupt and ruthless forces from their own and the developed world.

It was very interesting and some parts made me question myself but some parts it did get a little boring. It is a very long book but it is nice to have some time to read by yourself I really recommend this book

I think this book had an amazing storyline. the author has put a wide range of characters from Bobo, the white lioness, and to the black panther. I would rate five out of five.

I like this book because its all about a gorilla that gests saved from rebels in the African jungle by a child named Imara. I love gorillas and all animals.

This is an incredible animal book perfect for all nature fans. Even though I am not big on animals I love Gill Lewis books and this is no exception

The book was a great view into the lives of people in poverty as we see they are put into gangs. These people like imara and bobo don't have great lives and it is great to see this. great book
