Geis 2: A Game Without Rules
In a fantasy world, the evil sorceress Niope has set all the warriors in the kingdom on a quest from which only one will survive to become chief of the tribe, dividing them into two groups, dressed in white or black – meaning that only one team can win. As the teams challenge each other to a number of strange, magical tasks to win the coins they’ve all been given by the sorceress, the opposing sides find increasingly clever ways to evade capture and defeat.
In this sequel to Geis: A Matter of Life and Death, Alexis Deacon creates a darker, perilous fairytale, in which his characters have to be wily to escape and win. We get to know the characters a little better, especially brothers Nemas and Toras, as well as Io from book 1.
The art has a softness and dreamy faded colour that gives a sense of otherworldliness to the story and really makes the turquoise-blue images of the sorceress Niope stand out. An original, edgy and haunting graphic novel, which will appeal to adventure and fantasy fans.
