Freddie’s Amazing Bakery: The Great Raspberry Mix-Up

Publisher: Oxford

Freddie Bonbon isn’t just the best baker in Belville, he’s also one of the kindest residents. In fact, Freddie’s bakery is so popular, he can’t keep up with all the orders he gets and really needs a new oven as his old one is too small and unreliable.

How fortunate then that the town’s best hotelier is running a baking competition with a £500 prize for the winner!

Freddie has a great plan for his entry but spends so long helping out his neighbours that he almost runs out of time and, strangely, can’t find one of the essential ingredients. Could this just be bad luck or is there something more sinister going on?

As well as characterful, black-and-white illustrations, Freddie’s story includes further visual interest in the form of maps, lists, posters and imaginative typography. It also combines the familiarity of universal experiences with the excitement of a highly competitive baking contest.

Loosely inspired by The Great British Bake Off but with contestants who are much less friendly and, in one case, entirely without scruples. A deliciously fun read.
