Emerald Secret

Publisher: Nosy Crow

Nat and her robot dragon are back, but this time their home - the Junko - is sailing towards London, where Nat must attend school for two years, as stated in her parents' will.

It isn't just the weird Victorian uniforms or being so far from her friends in Hong Kong that bother the young heiress, though - someone in London wants something from her and will stop at nothing to get it.

This is the second instalment in Susan Moore's trilogy and, although the story follows on from the first book, the tone has changed. Set in a futuristic London where top hats and hooped skirts are normal attire, it feels decidedly more steampunk than the neon, futuristic Hong Kong-based Crimson Poison.

The threats against Nat are different too, taking on a magical element, as well as introducing a quest for her to complete. It will be interesting to see how the trilogy concludes.
