Elephants Never Forget

Publisher: Tara Books

A simple tale about an elephant who gets lost in a storm. He falls in with a herd of buffalo, who save him from a tiger attack and soon the elephant becomes one of them.

He uses his elephant skills to clear the buffalos' path, and to give them showers but he knows that however long he stays with them, he'll never truly be a buffalo.

So when he meets a herd of elephants, will he choose to join them, or to stay with his buffalo family?

Indian author Anushka Ravishankar has woven a charming tale in verse, accompanied by extremely stylish woodcuts by Christiane Pieper. I particularly like the endpapers, which show many buffalo accompanied by one lone elephant.
