Adam is a Luman: together with his father and brothers, he is charged with leading the dead to the afterlife. But while his brothers shoulder their responsibilities easily, Adam just wants to lead a normal teenage life, going to school, seeing his mates and getting to know Melissa better. Then Adam discovers he has the gift of premonition, and suddenly finds himself facing an appalling choice: should he break the rules of death to save lives, or stand by and let people die?

This debut novel is the first of a series and has much to appeal to fans of the supernatural. Adam is a likeable and very human hero and his adventures raise thought-provoking questions about death, the afterlife, fate and choices.
