Daisy and Bear

Publisher: Scholastic

One Sunday afternoon, Daisy decides that she and Bear should go to the cinema. Bear hasn’t been before, and when he gets there, he LOVES it. However, it’s not long before Bear needs a wee and has to go out for snacks. Then, of course, there’s his rather noisy emotional reaction to the film, and the nose-blowing, burping and munching of popcorn, to say nothing of his mobile phone.

Having left the screening room, Daisy and Bear find themselves in a bit of a popcorn pickle… but manage to save the day by putting on a show that nobody was expecting. Bearlissimo!

Fabi Santiago’s books are always bouncing with fun, and the beautiful, bright and slightly retro style of illustration in Daisy and Bear, with a matte red, blue and yellow palette, is reminiscent of seaside holidays, sunny Sundays, piers and ice-cream.

It’s a really funny book, full of silly expressions and happy chaos, with Bear as a lovable comic friend we’d all love to have – and also a book that reminds children about cinema etiquette.
