Catch That Crocodile

Collaborating with various illustrators, poet Anushka Ravishankar has already produced several entertaining mini-glimpses into life in India, and her latest picture book combines lively illustration with a catchy rhyming, rhythmic story of village life interrupted by the appearance of a wily crocodile.

We are introduced to the fruitseller who spots it, the policeman whose suggestions don’t suit the case, the doctor whose attempts to tranquillise the croc have unexpected results, and the wrestler who is no match for a crocodile’s snapping power!

Then a small girl with a basket of fish appears, and puts all the adults to shame.

Great fun for reading out loud, combined with some thoughtful messages for young readers about problem-solving and respect for our animal friends.
