Brenda is a Sheep

Publisher: Two Hoots

Review

Brenda, though she might look suspiciously like a wolf, with her sharp teeth and big claws, is definitely a sheep.

Definitely.

The sheep adore Brenda. They love her fun games: chasing them with an arrow, playing tag. All the sheep want to be like Brenda with her lovely knitted jumper.

Yet Brenda is working hard on her mint sauce recipe: the sheep have never had it, but Brenda assures them it's delicious, especially when you eat it with the right things. Still, perhaps Brenda can be persuaded into eating a grass feast instead of the one she had planned... she is a sheep, after all.

Morag Hood's expertise at creating hilarious, tight concept books for 3- and 4-year-olds is more or less unsurpassed. Her bold, four-colour artwork in greens and oranges with grey and white is beautiful and striking, and the idea of a wolf in sheep's clothing - and the unexpected friendship between the wolf and the sheep - is perfect.
