A Necklace of Raindrops

Publisher: Jonathan Cape Children's Books
Filled with poetic repetitions, each story beautifully balances the prosaic with the wondrous – the old lady who mistakenly slips a bit of sky into her pie, which then floats her away; the little girl who finds elves in the shelves and a tiger in the house on her birthday night, and the mesmeric fable of three railway men manning a desert station who dream of travel.
And then there are Jan Pienkowski’s lacelike pencil-sharp silhouettes, standing out against exotic swathes of colour and light. Magical indeed!
