Diana Gerald - CEO

Diana Gerald, CEO

Diana Gerald joined Book Trust as Chief Executive in March 2015 from the Arks Schools Group, who run schools in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country.  Diana joined at an important time in the development of BookTrust as it continues to build on its work to transform lives by getting children and families reading, and reinforces its position as one of the leading voices on reading. Diana has a deep understanding of the role that education plays in creating opportunity, which is at the heart of BookTrust's work.


Colin Atkins - COO

Colin Atkinson

Colin joined BookTrust in January 2017 as Chief Operations Officer, and has over 25 years of experience as a senior supply chain and operations professional. Prior to joining BookTrust Colin ran his own consultancy business for seven years, specialising in developing strategic supply chain and business operations solutions for national and international print media businesses, including Egmont, Hearst International, Telegraph Media Group and News UK. Colin's core responsibilities are in managing the operational delivery of BookTrust and overseeing its organisational development.


Gemma Malley - Director of Communications and Development

Gemma Malley, Director of Communications & Development

Gemma Malley is Director of Communications and Development, leading the communications and campaigns, fundraising, digital and marketing teams at BookTrust. She has led communications, marketing and public affairs for organisations including Ofsted, Universities UK, the Design Business Education and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. A former journalist, Gemma has written regular columns for the Sunday Telegraph and Company Magazine, and appeared regularly on television and radio. She has also published seven Young Adult novels, which have been translated into 28 languages.


Jill Coleman - Director of Children's Books

Jill Coleman, Director of Children's Books

Jill Coleman, is Director of Children's Books. She is responsible for BookTrust's expert selection and recommendation of great books, managing book purchasing across the organisation, and working with arts organisations, publishers, authors, and illustrators to promote excellence in children's books. Jill has had held a number of senior roles in publishing, including Board Director of Bloomsbury publishing, Managing Director of A&C Black and Managing Director of Little Tiger Press.


Annie Crombie - Director of Programmes and Partnerships

Annie Crombie

Annie Crombie is BookTrust's Director of Programmes and Partnerships. She is responsible for designing and improving our programmes, for our partnerships with local government, and for our research and impact work. Prior to joining BookTrust in October 2018, Annie was Chief Executive Officer of the Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies UK. Before that she was a senior civil servant at the Department for Education where her roles included Head of Early Years Funding (including the roll-out of funded nursery places for two-year-olds), Head of Adoption Reform and Head of Early Intervention Strategy (including parenting interventions). She is also a qualified teacher.
