Fer has always felt out of place in the world, feeling more at home listening to the whispering trees calling to her from the woods near her home. One night she meets Rook, a strange boy creature, who leads her through The Way, a portal to a magical land, a place where Fer immediately feels she belongs. But this new world is dangerous as well as enchanting, and Fer soon realises she must unlock the secrets of her own past to restore harmony to a land dangerously out of balance. What is more to realise her destiny, she must face down the powerful huntress Mor to free the land from its imprisonment in ice and snow.

This is an easy-to-read magical adventure story with some quirky characters and touches of humour to offset the dark fairy-tale. An enjoyable read for fans of fantasy adventure.
