Three Dark Crowns
Publisher: Macmillan
Three Dark Crowns is a deliciously dark and utterly original fantasy novel. In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. They are raised by rival factions, and when they are 16, they have to battle to the death to become the Queen of the island.
Blake cleverly plays with fairy tale tropes and her world is well-developed and fascinating. The writing itself is lush and evocative, switching between the three sisters’ perspectives. These young women are wonderfully and vividly drawn, with their own distinct personalities and interesting backstories.
Three Dark Crowns is feminist, fierce and unforgettable - perfect for fans of Melinda Salisbury and Game of Thrones.

Due to the narratives, it took a long time to take off, but...
