The Unmorrow Curse

As Buzz and Mari walk home from school through Tangley Woods, they are astonished to find a woman bound to a tree with a magical rope. She is Sunna, Norse goddess of the sun and Sunday’s guardian, and has been captured by Loki, the trickster god. Sunna explains that Loki was imprisoned for centuries as a punishment for causing the death of Odin’s son, but now he has escaped and is seeking revenge. He is searching for the Runes of Valhalla, enchanted stones which contain the magic of the day guardians, but if he absorbs their power, he will be unstoppable.

With Sunna captured, the days cannot move forward, so the world is plunged into a curse of unmorrows, where the same day is re-lived repeatedly until the end of time. To restore order to the human realm, Buzz and Mari must find the runes before Loki can harness their magic. The children demonstrate courage and resourcefulness as they fight dragons, outsmart gods, and journey through the underworld on their perilous quest to save the world.

Seamlessly weaving Norse mythology into a contemporary tale, this fast-paced, fantasy adventure, with a cast of black characters, is a compelling read.
