What to Read After... David Walliams 17/02/25
Previously
Publisher: Walker Books
Using just the word 'previously' various fairytales are retold – starting with their endings and working back to their beginnings.
Goldilocks arrives home and her story is traced back to her experience at the house of the three bears. Before that she had bumped into a running boy who had escaped down a beanstalk. His story runs back through his adventures to selling the family cow and previously tumbling down a hill with his sister Jill.
The Frog Prince, Cinderella and the Gingerbread Boy are treated similarly as their stories travel back to the beginning of all stories and the words 'Once upon a time…'
This is a clever and thought-provoking book with large, bright, funny pictures. Excellent inspiration for storytelling and writing.
