Norman’s New Shell

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

In this fun, snail-shaped board book, Norman the slug has aspirations to become a snail – but he needs a shell! But which shell will be right for him? He tries out a yellow one, a blue one, then a pink one, a red one and green one. These aren’t typical snail shells though, but a variety of funny items from a rubber duck to an ice cream cone that Norman is testing out!

Norman’s perfect shell is waiting for him at the end of the book, and going by the big smile on his face he’s very happy with it. This is a sweet and simple story to share with little ones who might be starting to learn about colours, or can be read just as funny story! The pictures are bright and clear while the differently shaped pages add something different for little hands to engage with. The expressions on Norman’s face as he tries on the different ‘shells’ are funny too and offers further opportunities for talking about what is happening in the story.
