Mister Whistler

Publisher: Gecko Press

Mister Whistler sings and dances all the time.  As he sets off on the journey to see his great-aunt, a new song is racing around his head, pushing out all other thoughts.

He buys a train ticket but then he loses it. He searches his clothes and strips them off, dancing all the time. Soon he’s down to just his underwear!  All the other travellers applaud his dancing and put money in his discarded hat. Eventually he discovers his ticket held between his teeth. He laughs at his foolishness and promptly swallows the ticket – but fortunately he now has enough money to buy another!

The bold, energetic illustrations by Gavin Bishop are well suited to this humorous story by the ever-popular Margaret Mahy. This lively picture book is ideal for a fun classroom story time.
