Mini Rabbit Must Help
Publisher: HarperCollins Children’s Books
Mini Rabbit is an endearing character who approaches life with boundless enthusiasm. When Mother Rabbit writes an important letter to Granny Rabbit, inviting her to tea, Mini Rabbit is extremely keen to post it. His mother cautiously agrees, explaining that he must not miss the last postal collection at 5 o’clock.
Gathering some essential supplies for the journey (cake, slime, a stick), Mini Rabbit races into town. He is hungry when he eventually arrives, so sits by the river to eat his snack. This sets in motion a series of events, causing the energetic bunny to frantically pursue the letter as it repeatedly escapes his clutches. Mini Rabbit faces each setback with determination and ingenuity, eventually arriving home exhausted yet triumphant, although keen-eyed readers will spot that his mission may not have been totally successful!
The text conveys Mini Rabbit’s inner thoughts, while lively, colourful illustrations provide an alternative narrative which is full of subtle humour, enabling children to develop a broader understanding of events. The attractive layout guides the reader through the tale, with several vignettes that help to create a sense of pace and distance. A charming and witty book.
