Leah’s Star
Publisher: Alanna Max
Little Leah meets two parents-to-be on a busy Bethlehem street near her home: the young woman is about to have a baby and there is nowhere for them to stay. Leah’s kind father lets them use his stable and then, in the starlight, a little baby boy is born. The bright starlight guides shepherds and wise men to the star and brings gifts to the newborn.
The ancient Nativity tale is, of course, very familiar, and in this delightful version, told through the eyes of the young girl Leah, we find a touching and human representation of two first-time parents about to experience the birth of their child together.
Beautifully illustrated, the images give real warmth to this age-old tale. A perfect present to read together on Christmas Day.
