Our story begins with a lonely poo, languishing in a toilet bowl, reflecting on the futility of its own wasteful existence... but wait! What’s this?

From the midst of a swirling green portal emerges Professor Poo, an interdimensional traveller and expert on all things faecal, who whisks the poo away on a scientific quest to discover its origins.  

With the help of some advanced technology, Professor Poo guides the reader on a journey from the initial act of eating, through the entire digestive system, and finally into the sewers. Along the way, our plucky poo heroes encounter a variety of dangers, friends, and body parts, as well as learning about the history of human hygiene practices. 

This hilarious graphic novel by Turner and May strikes a brilliant balance between information, of which there is an abundance, and toilet humour. The illustrations are lively and have an anarchic feel reminiscent of Jamie Smart’s Bunny vs Monkey series. Similarly, the dialogue and captions abound with humour and poopy puns galore! 

While at first glance this book appears rather silly, it does in fact convey a massive amount of information about the digestive process.The ‘ick factor’ will appeal to many young readers, and the fact that adults will likely be grossed out makes it even more likely to hit the mark!
