I'm Sure I Saw a Dinosaur

Publisher: Andersen

It's hard to decide which is the more attractive element of this picture book: the heavily rhythmical, wonderfully rhyming text, or the vibrant, funny illustrations!

Willis and Reynolds have produced a highly engaging story, with a humorous twist at the end. It's an ideal book for bedtime, with an easily memorable text for young readers to learn and join in with, and to predict which characters will be added to the ongoing list.

Reynolds' illustrations add another layer to the simple story, with a riot of additional details to be explored, lively depictions of the characters, and a bold use of colour.  Particularly striking is the second spread, of a boy's face with a startled expression, as though he has indeed has just seen the dinosaur.
