Simon Moss wishes he were an action hero, and is a natural storyteller. His best friend, Whippet, is a semi-reclusive, prolific artist, never seen without a sketchpad.

When a shadowy monster kidnaps Simon's little sister, Rosie, it seems as if the comic book world, of which they are both huge fans, is starting to leak into the real world. Having no experience at monster-hunting, the boys are dazed but grateful when the world's smallest explorer, Lucy Shufflebottom, appears on the scene and leads the mission to find the monster and rescue Rosie.

Packed with black and white illustrations, this is the first in a new series of humorous, quirky adventure stories featuring three gutsy and memorable kids. With plenty of slimy, smelly, dangerous and gruesome goings-on, the story is fast-paced and imaginative and likely to appeal to lovers of comics and/or graphic novels.
