Down the Back of the Chair
Publisher: Frances Lincoln
Mary's Father is growing poorer by the day and soon the family will run out of money. To make matters worse he has lost his car keys, so his daughter suggests he looks down the back of the chair.
Although the keys are nowhere to be found, the chair is concealing an array of weird and wonderful things, ranging from a ‘fan that belonged to Gran’ to ‘a dragon trying to take a nap.’ However, most importantly it is hiding the long lost will of Uncle Bill, which could bring an end to the family crisis.
Polly Dunbar's lively, collage style illustrations delightfully catalogue the growing list of quirky objects lurking in depth of the chair and perfectly complement this imaginative rhyming text.
