When Prince Anders is assassinated, his younger brother Jared's life is dramatically turned upside down. Asta and Jared make likeable heroes, and although the story is a little slow to get going at first, its plentiful twists and turns will soon engage young readers, keeping them guessing about who the real villain could be.
