Adventure Duck vs Power Pug
Publisher: Orchard
A.D, self-named after children pointing at him and shouting ‘Look! A Duck!’ is quietly going about his business on the pond one day and wishing for some soggy bread when he discovers a toasty warm pale green egg in a nest. However, what A.D (short for Adventure Duck) doesn’t expect is that sitting on the alien egg gives him superpowers - and a mission to defeat evil wherever it lurks.
Somewhat unexpectedly, his evil nemesis turns out to be in the form of Power Pug, a tiny dog that wants to enslave humanity with its hypnotic stare. Will Adventure Duck and his moustachioed egg friend Yoki save the day? Or will Power Pug bend humanity to its evil will?
Steve Cole’s funny animal fantasy will appeal to new readers looking to make the move from picture books or simpler chapter books – there’s a nice large readable font and lots of funny WHAM! and CRUNCH! Batman-style interjections alongside black and white illustrations. Giggles are guaranteed with plenty of silly puns and jokes that will also entertain parents if they’re reading aloud.
