Pig is quite happy on the farm, eating his favourite slops, chatting to his friend Duck and getting back-scratches from his beloved Farmer. The only things he doesn't like are the Evil Chickens - until Duck reveals the terrible truth that Farmer doesn't love him at all - he's simply fattening him up so he can become his dinner.

Luckily, help is at hand, albeit from the most unlikely of allies - the Evil Chickens, who have been designing their very own 'trocket' (a cross between a tractor and a rocket) and want Pig to pilot it into space. Pig seizes the chance to escape a terrible fate in Farmer's pot - but will the trocket really take him safely all the way to Pluto?

Friendly pigs are something of a children's book staple, from Dick King Smith's Babe the Sheep-Pig to Wilbur of Charlotte's Web fame. But the eponymous hero of this particular farmyard tale is far from run of the mill - for starters, he keeps his own 'top secret diary', illustrated with cartoons and doodles, where he writes about his adventures in his own hilarious, exuberant and completely ungrammatical narrative voice. Children and adults alike will be delighted by this brilliantly silly and surreal story - and young readers in particular are certain to be tickled by Pig's gleeful enjoyment of big poos and smelly farts.
