About this book

All teenagers are embarrassed by their parents but Jude feels she has more reason than most to cringe when hers are around her in public. Although she loves her Dad to bits, turning up at parents' evening in his rhinestone-studded Elvis catsuit stretches even her loyalty to its limits.

Her Dad, however is the least of her worries when a recurring problem from her mother's past returns to disrupt her life again. Could the boy on rollerblades with the floppy fringe be the one to save the day and is there such a thing as a happy ending?

Tackling gritty issues such as alcoholism and dementia can be a tricky business but Cathy Cassidy carries it off with confidence retaining humour and sensitivity in a readable and worthwhile story.

About the author

Cathy Cassidy wrote and illustrated her first book at eight-years-old. She has worked as an editor on Jackie magazine, a teacher, and as agony aunt on Shout magazine. She lives in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, with her husband, two children, three cats, two rabbits and a mad hairy lurcher called Kelpie.

Cathy Cassidy's warm, funny, tender fiction including Dizzy, Indigo Blue, Sundae Girl and many more has won her an army of dedicated fans. The power and importance of friendship is at the heart of each of her books but most crucially, Cathy brings an element of magic to every story, discovering the magic that exists in every corner, in every day and sprinkling it through her narrative.
