About this book

Sink loves lorries. He digs diggers and has a taste for trucks. If it’s large, loud, and has wheels, he's interested. He plays with big trucks, small trucks, short trucks and long trucks. He plays with trucks of all shapes and all colours – well, nearly all colours, anyway.

One day, Sink is shocked to discover that none of his precious trucks are... pink (and Sink loves pink). His friends patiently remind him of the “colour rules”. Flamingos and pigs? Pink. Blueberries and oceans? Blue.Trucks and vans? Any colour you want, except for pink

But Sink disagrees. With his sister’s helphe builds his own magnificently pink truck to share with his friends. After realising that trucks can indeed be pink, they cannot wait to play with Sink’s perfectly pink truck!

This warm story gently challenges normative expectations of gender roles and play in a non-confrontational way.

The rhyming text drives the story forward with good momentum and the creators have made clever use of fonts and placement to add vibrancy. The illustrations are detailed and are sure to engage young readers with a passion for transport themes.

A great book to spark healthy discussion about the social aspects of play choices.
