About this book

This instructive board book opens with the simple statement that many religious people wear head coverings to show their love of God. Depicted on each of the colourful pages is a different faith-based ‘hat’, with the name, phonetic pronunciation and a description of the person who may wear it.

Children will learn that many Muslim women wear a Hijab (He-jaab); the cap typically worn by Jewish boys and men is called a Kippah (Ki’pa); and a Rasta Hat is the common headwear of Rastafarian men.

The straightforward, informative text is accompanied by vibrant illustrations, which clearly show what each head covering looks like. The core message is that by encouraging children to become familiar with different customs, they will develop tolerance and acceptance of those around them, which will ultimately lead to peace and love. An optimistic and valuable book that celebrates diversity and fosters understanding.
