Jack is in hospital after braking his leg by riding his bike into a stationary car whilst escaping from a supermarket accident. He had knocked over a display of tinned tomatoes, which he is certain killed an elderly shopper. Throughout his hospital stay he is convinced he is about to be arrested, but despite this he is instrumental in the recovery of other young patients, and with their help eventually discovers his own fears to be unfounded. Told by Jack himself, this novel is ideal for newly confident boy readers in KS1.

About the author

Jeremy Strong is an English writer credited with over 100 children's books. He once worked in a bakery, putting jam into doughnuts. He also worked as caretaker, a strawberry-picker and in an office for British Rail.
